Rainbow tribute to Two OTB Orange Friends

We decided that from time to time we will do a few little memorial slideshows for some of the cats we felt particularly close to and since we still get to hear about angel Eric & Flynn's earthly adventures we think of them often.  In fact Paprika had a big crush on Flynn and I myself watched Angel Eric with  keen interest. Any way, here are our two slideshows we did for them which have not been done before.

Our original plan was to do these on Memorial Day with our Rainbow show but things got busy and, well...at least this week we're at last ready.  the 3 minutes= show is the first one and the next one is a longer show...whichever you prefer.  

Paprika still speaks of Flynn often and, well, we just had to visit these orange snuggles one more time!

Water-A-Flower Day But Don't Water ME

Good morning, Peaches here! When I heard the word "water" I thought this was NOT a good idea, but weirdo Paprika my sis-fur is into water so I agreed as a one time occasion to visit the garden during watering season.  I have to tell you though that if that watering can comes near ME x 'm outa here!  The purpose of this day is obviously not to 

just water one flower, but to emphasize the beauty of  gardens and the growing season - and if you have one, to  keep it healthy.  If you don't have one, it's great day to enjoy someone else's...which is what our human is doing!  More about this fun holiday here!  

Watering relationships is something we may not think much about but this is also a day to contemplate how we can enrich the ones we have!

4th Annual Rainbow Kitty Memorial Show

Greetings from the Grass-Happy Memorial Weekend

Cats Honoring Nurses for National Nurses Week

Today is the start of National Nurses Week and National Nurses Day.  We honor those brave solves who have braved danger to help the sick, go above and beyond or simply show up.  We have been informed about their dedication and good deeds and we cats wish to pay tribute to them on this day and week for helping our beloved humans! Cats' Cinco de Mayo

Who says CATS can't celebrate Cinco de Mayo?  Any excuse will do for a little fun and music. But we DO wish to acquaint you with the history behind this holiday which can be found on this  Britannica link!   It commemorates avictory in 1862 celebrated in Mexico & parts of the U.S.when victory was declared over the French forces of Napoleon III! 

Cat-Of-the-Month - Sjors - from the Netherlands

Our May 2020 Cat-Of-The-Month is the dream-boat, SJORS who resides in the Netherlands near The Hague and Lissen, where the tulip fields grow.

Sjors is a gorgeous 12 year old kitty, who has captivated his household and our Facebook friends with his huge green eyes and mellow disposition.  

His human, Karla, tells about her first bittersweet  encounter with Sjors:

"I was visiting my friend and Sjors

walked in.  Apparently his owner had put him "on the street!" 

Luckily Sjors was microchipped & her friend traced him back to his original owner.  Astonishingly, his owner did not want him back due to "allergies." But this sad story had a happy ending.  Sjors without hesitation jumped right on Karla's lap. Captivated by his sweetness,  she could not resist this orange beauty and took him right home. Even though she did not own a cat at the time, she quickly acquired the necessary "cat supplies" to make Sjors feel welcome.

About Sjors 

Sjors is one of the most relaxed cats ever!  His laid back sleeping styles include lying on his back or curling up in the cutest big ball ever.  One of his great loves is crawling under covers. To accomplish this, however, he has learned how to tap his human on the nose to notify his intention.  What a creative cat!

"I didn't do it.  It wasn't me!"

Sjors "Creative" Talents

Sjors has a few little, er,  "talents" his human wishes he would replace with different skills.  Despite scratching posts, he IS irresistibly drawn to furniture and, as a creative cat, tries to make his own designs on them with his personal"scratchings."  These unique markings were not what his human intended when she acquired the furniture.  He maintains it was not his fault but the evidence is there!

We are delighted to welcome Sjors as our May Cat-Of-The Month. When asked what she liked best about Sjors, his human said: 

"He is a very friendly and sweet cat, he even likes the vet. He loves to cuddle all day. And gives me a wash regularly. We are best friends and I would not know what to do if I did not have him anymore. Even my friends and family see how well we fit together."

Sjors even likes the VET and gives free washes! Now that's a friendly cat, for sure!  It was a lucky day when Karla and Sjors met each other!

Bird Day for Indoor Cats

As indoor cats, we may not be able to celebrate this mouthwatering day as we would like.  But we have our own methods for appreciating these beautiful creatures. As you can see, we are no slouches when it comes to finding birds...but as indoor cats there are "special opportunities!

BIRD DAY, celebrated tomorrow, May 4, is THE oldest bird holiday and you can read about it by clicking the link. It's not to be confused with "National Bird Day" which is January 5 or "International Migratory Bird Day" which is the 2nd Saturday in May.

On Bird Day we have a rare opportunity to really collaborate on reaching birds in unconventional ways, as shown above.  Check out that brave Paprika, extending a paw. But there was a barrier!

There are ways around all obstacles, as inventive Paprika takes the lead to  discover.

Disclosure: We did post similar photos last year, only mistakenly thought it was National Bird Day. This gives us license to correct our little error...heck we're only human, er...feline!

Where to Get a New Hairdo in Covid-19 Era

Beauty salons closed?  No one to fix your hair?  Not a problem with a virtual new hairdo!

We cats celebrated National Hairstylists Day (April 30) with a large kitty parade of ourselves joined by 25 of our enthusiastic Facebook gurrrl friends! Click on the collage to see the fun (3 minutes well spent) we had and see pictures of the beauty winners (via group vote) below!   No prizes besides the ribbons but all in fun!

We started off the parade with an announcement of brave volunteer gurrrl kitties!  We figured its harmless frivolous fun during these indoor quarantining times!

We do think this was an artsy experience enjoyed by all so are joining Athena & Marie's Cat-ur-day Art hop today!
