Drama Queen Peaches

Peaches Story:   My human did NOT pay enough attention to me over the holidays.  Therefore,I surprised her when she entered the den by exhibiting THIS pose! Ta Da!
Whadaya think?

Carol the human's story:
When I entered the den, I was amazed to see Peaches in THIS dramatic position, just waiting for my reaction. Unfortunately, no camera in hand!  HOLD IT! I cried urgently. Obligingly, Peaches stayed in this exact position while I got the camera.  She is a true "drama queen!"

Note: We received this gorgeous red and white fleece blanket from Sharon, Raz and Allie of Friends Furever blog.  We love it!  Thank you, Sharon!

Our O So Thrilling Secret Paws Event

About Secret Paws

So this year for the second time we participated in the scrumptious Secret Paws event, organized by Ms. Paula of Sweet Purrfections.   To read more about it, check the link above!  We got amazing & thoughtful gifts this year from the blog, Friends Furever that we truly treasure.

The joy of this annual event is that we get to have tons of fun picking out toys, presents, treats and what have you for our "Secret Correspondent" while some lucky kitty & their human are doing the same for us!  AND THEN WE GET TO OPEN OUR PRESENTS!

The Box Arrival

As mentioned above, Friends Furever, composed of kitties Raz, Allie, Noelle & their mom, Sharon, were our secret paws!  It was an incredible bonanza involving a "Silver Cat, " a Palm Tree, a Lollipoop, er Lollipop wand toy, a scrrrratcher and la piece de resistance, a fleecy santa-cat blanket MADE by Ms. Sharon  Naturally, I, Peaches, inspected the Fedex box upon arrival and found it  most satisfactory. I know this because I am a trained cat-detective.

Investigation

After that thurrrilling arrival we had to WAIT impatiently patiently for DAYS. We DID get a good sniff or two of the packages while  waiting, and we (kinda) enjoyed our preliminary inspection.

Opening Day

So exciting! Again we impatiently patiently waited as the colorful packages were laid out for us.  Paprika tried to get ahead of me, she is the nosier of us two.

The Green Palm Tree Toy

Wouldn't you know it, since our Secret Paws friends were from FLORIDA they couldn't resist rubbing it in about our cold New England winters (we live in Connecticut). I was enthralled with the toy palm tree, but didn't get to enjoy it long. That scoundrel, Paprika, STOLE it, ran away & hid it somewhere. Two days later I still don't know where she put it.  SCANDALOUS!

THE SCRATCHER

The next intriguing package was a Scccrrrratcher!  Yummm..I started sharpening my claws on it immediately.  It had a "red monster" on it but that didn't scae ME! It felt very delicious to my claws!

That's it, with the green stem sticking out!

The colorful Lollipop Wand Toy

Okay so this time I did let my sisfur Paprika in on the fun. Though I am NOT a sharing cat I do make an exception for wand toys. Our wand toy was very colorful--red, green, yellow, purple...wow.  Well we both had a blast with it as anyone can see!

The Amazing Red & White Santa Cat Blanket

Talk about thurrrrrrrilling! What can be better than A FLEECE blanket. And we later learned it was Hand Made by Mom
Sharon. We couldn't get enough of that blanket. It is VERY  SOFT! It has a reversible red side, too. Here I am, trying it out in my full glory. In fact I DO consider it "MY" blanket!

Nice Try Paprika!
Here you will notice PAPRIKA tried to act like it was HER blanket. She pretended she was just trying to show off it's reversible red side. Don't believe her! She wants to get the blanket away from me!

My "Cheesecake" shots on the Santa Blanket

A few cheesecake red and white blanket shots should convince you this blanket is MINE!

Maybe I should just hang out & take a little relaxed nap to cement the deal!

Or a formal portrait may be in order!

The Silver Cat

The last item we opened was apparently a gift for our human!  (Too bad, see below) It is a beautiful silver cat (pewter?) which stands by itself and has room for a photo in the middle of it. Our human was awed and put it on her mantel.  Isn't it beautiful!

Now there IS more to this silver cat story. You see me and Paprika were & are Verrrry interested in this cat. Check out our reaction in the photos.  We both wanted to kiss him and Paprika tried to hang out with him during her morning birdwatch.  It could be we are attracted to the FISH hanging out of his silver jaws!  Okay so we're nuts. Takes all kinds!

Signing Off

And a special special thanks to Ms. Sharon

Peaches & Paprika at Marys Kitty Korner

This is the first picture I saw of Peaches - on the internet!
Who could NOT fall in love with this cat?

National Adopt-a-Shelter Month

This month we wanted to honor my kitties' previous shelter home, where I had the fortune to encounter Peaches & Paprika!

Marys Kitty Korner, is a sunny no-kill "home-like" shelter  for cats where our human met us.  We had previously been "rescued from a kill shelter in New York & we ended up in this new place, a big white house with lots of sunny windows & dedicated volunteers.  But many other cats with whom to compete!

PEACHES & PAPRIKA'S STORY:

So here's how it went:  My human fell in love with me, Peaches, on the internet!  You saw the picture (above) on "Petfinder." She was immediately smitten with me!  Immediately she said to herself:

 "I must have that cat!"

That's  me on TOP!
Mary's Kitty Korner - where I and Paprika were living
She then made inquiries about me, got directions and found I was living in a big white house in Granby, Connecticut with 50 other cats!

When my owner first laid eyes on me, I had the best spot in the cat house - a spot on a high window in the sun.  However, to tell you the truth, when she walked into the room I was flirting with another customer!

That's MY Cat!

Flirting and posing on the window for my admirers

My human was crushed, thinking another customer had scooped me up. She immediately announced, to the shocked onlookers:  "Hey that's MY cat!" - even though she'd never met me before!

Mary's Kitty Korner's manager, Miss Lisa, DID tell the other customer that Carol had "first dibs" on me, much to her great relief.
Sad Paprika--thinking she might get left behind!

And then there's Paprika...

Well here's the deal, I have this sisfur, Paprika, and let me tell you we're a Package deal - ain't going nowhere without my sisfur!  That was fine with the human.  She WANTED two cats!  So she met  shy Paprika  who was hanging out in another room.

Paprika is transfixed by "the feather"

The human, Carol, was not bothered by Paprika's shyness, (I've cautioned Paprika to look more "upbeat" like ME!) She started to play with Paprika & her eyes actually danced!

The Sunny Rooms at Marys Kitty Korner:

There were many neat rooms at Marys Kitty Korner that the human visited - where cats could play and sun themselves. Most have a grand ole time but who wants to live in a dorm?
Another sun and playroom at Marys Kitty Korner

We state our case

We decided to "state our case." After all, we did not wanther to get tempted by "other cats!"

For good measure, I tried one more "window maneuver" and Paprika tried to look particularly Beseeching!

Wouldn't YOU like a playful cat with such PURRsonality?

So...how about it?  Deal is sealed?
SNIFF! Pawleeeez..

Goodbye Marys Kitty Korner...
thank you for letting us stay here!

The human did not have to think about it long....she opted for BOTH of us....a wise decision!  White House:  Goodbye.
Check us out below in our "new" home...

Our New Digs

Here we've just arrived! The first few hours in our room we were given the "executive suite" - well actually, it was her bathroom, decorated with a plush blue rug, food & water, toys, a cool scratching post and lots of hiding places. Soon we were allowed to explore other rooms!

We love our home and being able to "prowl around" without bumping into 50 other cats!
We did wonder...
Will we be STAYING here?

YES!

YES, GIRLS, YES!
Thank you to Marys Kitty Korner for sheltering these delightful fur babies...you did a great job!

Autumn Attitude & Glamour Poses

Peaches and Paprika, noticing a chill in the air, made use of the newly fallen leaves to  display autumn "attitude" and compete for "most glamorous cat."And then, the news!

Well, I've never heard of either of those magazines but I'll leave the cats to their dreams & healthy competition. May the best cat win!  - Carol, the human

Lights Camera Action!

Paprika joins the Photo-shoot

Since our human has been out of sorts lately and neglecting her "visual arts," I, Paprika, decided to join my sisfur Peaches in a photo adventure.  I did a better job than Peaches, right?   The green enhances my green eyed personality.   If I could only learn the art of hiding my privates...but I'm told that's a human thing and doesn't matter for cats.

These are my sisfur Peaches photos from HER previous photo session. I think MINE are much better don't you?

Our Favorite Pastimes

Peaches in a typical pose
Paprika walking on door top
I like to relax on my back, posing for pictures & showing off my beautiful white fur. My acrobatic sister, Paprika, likes to show off by jumping on high objects like doors and shelves.  I think it's childish, myself!
