Our Wild St Pat-rick's Day Yesterday

Good morning, Paprika here! St. Patrick's Day turned out to be far wilder than we realized. We have some serious sleeping to do to recover!  It started out with a simple prayer and blessing.  We all felt that was the right way to respond.

Our trip to the Cat Bar

But then our human wanted to go out and celebrate at a local restaurant and they were CLOSED due to something called a Pan-demic.  What the Claw...?

After serious investi-cat-ions, we found that  CAT BARS were still open! Catnip Beer was freely flowing  Well we told her we'd represent her by attending a party and making merry.

Trapped but then Escaped

Unfortunately  Peaches talked me into over-indulging. THIS is what happened.  The big question:  how to extricate myself?

A local CAT-ron at the bar finally helped me crawl out. But not before I'd done some serious celebrations with the catnip beer!  You can see the state I was in below.

My human told me I was over-doing it and looked like some kind of were-wolf!  Nah...I greatly enjoyed the after-effects!  I hope where-ever you are, some joy came your way on St Cat-rick's Day!

Happy Kitty-Mom Day!

Happy Kitty Momma Day to all our Furrr-iends!  Peaches, here!  We have our own territories carved out on our human's snoozing quarters.  I get the right side (natch), Paprika gets the left.  We got it good, right?

We want to wish all kitty AND human moms a wonderful day today.  Mrrrrowwww!  We are joining Cat on My Head's Sunday blog hop - we have heard we have visitation rights there!

When Your Human Retires

Peaches' Life Change

I'm hoping I can get some advice here and appreciate any insights. Well my life has been turned upside down this month.  To a human, maybe not a big deal...to a CAT, cataclysmic!

Well as you know we are creatures of  habit and I had this nice little routine going on around 7PM called my "Welcome Ceremony." It was more than a routine, it was the high point of my day. But THEN, my human did something unexpected called "retiring from work." Never heard of it.

MY WELCOME CEREMONY HAS SUFFERED...

But I continue...Before all this occurred I would wait & wait for my human to come home from work.  I poured my heart & soul into a joyful welcome that would melt anyone's heart.  I RAN to the front door when I heard her keys jingle, I stuck my snow white paw OUTSIDE the door as she opened it, then jumped on the entrance table, gave a glad, chirpy meow and communed with her. And her hats!

It was the centerpiece of my life and our days together, the Welcome Home event.

NOW EVERYTHING'S CHANGED

BUT NOW....my human usually comes home when I am SOUND ASLEEP! This leaves me in a quandary as to what to do.  Get up? Not get up?  Half get up?

MY MOST TREASURED ACTIVITY IS GONE! GONE!

And I miss it!

I  have tried to cope, but I am AMBIVALENT! Sometimes, l just sleep through her whole arrival (something I NEVER did) and hope she understands. She looks disappointed though so I don't think she does. Other times the lure of habit is too strong. Keys=Welcome time!   So, other times, not quite awake, I'll stumble out to the front door, looking quite dazed and "out of it."  I make a half-hearted jump onto the entrance table but my human can tell I'm "not with it" and orders me back to bed.

Should I interrupt my nap? Can't decide what to do. Why do things have to change???!  What do YOU think?  Shall I be more flexible?
How do I become less confused?

Paprika's Dilemna

I, Paprika, have different priorities.  My crisis time is 10AM.  Peaches no longer plays with me in the morning (it was our little secret). So after my human's breakfast, I meow poignantly at HER.  At first she thought I was still hungry. Finally she realized, I wanted her to chase me around the room for half an hour  the way Peaches used to do.  Don't you think this is a reasonable request if a human is home?

Carol's Story

I'm so used to Peaches' welcoming me for 5 years at the  door, it's a shock to  find her sleeping on the job! Bless her heart, she really does try, & sometimes stumbles groggily to the door when she hears my keys, even though half awake.  Awwww.. now that's sweet!

7PM Ritual  and new Meowings:

Other times, suddenly at 7pm out of the clear blue sky & when I haven't left the house all day she'll suddenly meow loudly and run to the little entrance table wanting some loving. (usually I'm in the middle of making dinner!) Naturally I interrupt and...

I'm also trying to get used to little Paprika's strange 10AM meowings which she never did before.  I can't say chasing Paprika around the living room is my idea of how to spend my retirement but... (Takes all kinds!)

My colleagues at work used to say al the time "Well now you'll get to spend more time with Peaches & Paprika."  Hah! Little did they (and I) realize ....

Hopefully we will all work it out though!

 Right, Peaches? Right, Paprika?

Vet Visit! It's over! Yay!

We thought we would share our vet visit to Star Meadow Animal Clinic here in Connecticut with you all today. After all what are these visits for, if not to share with our friends!

Of course on the way to the vet, me and Paprika sang the song of our people   It was scandalous the way our humans stuffed, yes stuffed us into something called "cat carriers." Outrageous, I say.
 --Peaches the cat

There were some positives at the vet. Of course everyone fell in love with me.  I enjoyed showing off my charms, as always!

I hung out with Brittany for a while, talking with and entertaining her while we waited for the Doc.

After a few exchanges I knew I had a fan! Carol tried to hold me too, but I said to her: "I'm with Brittany now."

PAPRIKA was next at bat. She is a coward, just look! She will have to come out sometime.

The next event was a tummy exam for both of us.

I, Paprika thought I'd get a tummy rub like at home, but no such luck. Check out how cleverly I've curled my tail around the vet's hand.  That's in case she gets too feisty!

I, Peaches, decided to put up with the whole thing, but was not particularly pleased.

At last I got to show off my white tummy & paws during the event! And of course I will later get my, um, revenge!

Finally we were pronounced as reasonably healthy kitties & allowed to go home and relax.  We plan to sleep for several days.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Thank you for reading about our visit. We hope your next vet visit is smooth and respectful!

Safe In the Arms of My Human

Our human thinks she's protecting us, but...

Actually I keep HER safe while she is going through the stresses of life.  I simply  wrap my white paws around her at night  to comfort her but as a bonus I get chest and belly rubs.  So it's all good!
Love, Peaches the cat!

I can tell I'm keeping her happy!

Peaches gives Photography Lesson

THE LESSON

I was forced to "take matters into my own paws" this week, since Carol was too "busy" to take my picture...all week!  My tips:

1) Find an attractive animal print. Zebra will do!
2) Position yourself in an attractive pose in front of "the camera."
3) Ask Human where "Timer" is
4) Use PAW to push timer
5) SPRING to get in front of camera again
6) Click
7) Repeat Operation
8) Do not include sisters or relative in the pose
9) Rest and/or Sleep
How do you think I did? (illustrations below)

A FABULOUS LIKENESS, DON'T YOU THINK?

Relaxing Further after the Easter Holiday

ZZZZZ...we DESERVE this!

This is our favorite sleeping position. Carol calls it "lying down on the job." So unfair...humans get to lie
on their backs, why can't we?  I mean, REALLY, fair is fair.

Don't YOUR cats get to lie on their backs?
