Little Red Peaching Hood - Honoring Wear Red Day

I've always longed to be Red Riding Hood, even though I have to put up with being called "Peaching Hood..."  It's all good.  I am celebrating Wear Red Day which honors heart health and is the first Friday in February and you can read all about it and honor it by clicking the link.

Meanwhile, I innocently played may rightful role as Little Red Peaching Hood, only to learn that there is a WOLF in this story with big teeth  I meandered through the woods, basket in hand and entered a little cottage...well you can see what happened!  You never know what kind wolf  you will find....Cod knows what will become of me now!!!!
--Peaches the Cat

Note: Our human decided our story is artsy enough to join Athena and Marie for their Cat-urday hop!  Our human created my costume herself with photoshop.  She refused to tell me how Paprika ended up being the Big Bad Wolf. Woe is Me, Paprika's really sharp teeth. This is a Cat-lamity.

Happy Faux Fur Friday 2019

Do you love your cat?  Do you feel lonely for your cat when she he/she is not with you?  Despair not!  On this special day (and all year round) you can be with your cat in spirit by petting your coat,  hat, scarf, and other fine garments (while thinking of your honey cat).  That's IF you celebrate FAUX FUR day by selecting the right garments from your closet. or buying them ahead of time.  The most luxurious, softest and silkiest of all holidays has arrived...FAUX FUR FRIDAY! (The first Friday in December).

Here is some really cool history about Faux Fur Day:

Faux Fur Friday, observed on the first Friday in December, provides a stylish way to wear and buy faux fur.
Also known as fake fur, the textile made its debut in 1929. Initially made from alpaca wool, faux fur increased in quality as synthetic fibers became available. The fibers not only allowed for more variety and texture, but they also provided warmth. While the neo fur didn’t breath as well as animal fur, nor did it insulate as well, it lasted longer. Animal fur required refrigeration to avoid degrading.
Whether you call it fake, imitation or simulated, faux fur has found a place in fashion. Designers use it as an accent on clothing. They also create decor and entire ensembles. Faux fur comes in every color imaginable, too.

HOW TO OBSERVE #FauxFurFriday

Throw a faux fur style show or shop for a faux fur deal. Wrap yourself in a soft, furry throw or poncho. Add some faux fur to a denim jacket or jazz up pillow in your room. Share your faux fur secrets and use #FauxFurFriday to post on social media.

We have prepared a FAUX FUR Friday Celebration

of our own, cozying up to various articles in our household!

Hats are a verrrrry imporlant part of this celebration!
We have a particular attachment to Carol's TIGER hat. Now that might be because we ARE tigers...

This is one hat that I allow Paprika to share (see below). I am not usually this generous though.

Paprika here. This is NOT Peaches' tiger hat. It is OURS.  That means it is also mine. My pillow in this case. Peaches better not bother me now.

Hoping you will all enjoy Faux Fur Day with or WITHOUT your fur babies...

National Bird Day

So today is a VERY special holiday cuz it involves those wonderful feathered creatures we just salivate over.

As indoor cats, however, we celebrate by watching them on CAT-TV!

There is always the chance, however, something more could come out of it!

Today we are joining Athena and Marie's Cat-urday Art Hop

Dress Up Your Pet Day - Our crochetted hats

Here I am, "hamming it up" with my favorited crocheted hat on "Dress Up Your Pet Day". I have to admit I've only found one hat I like -- this one.  The way it caresses my ears is delectable!  My sis-fur Paprika (below) is just the opposite.

Good morning, Paprika here! MY idea of celebrating this day and wearing a hat is to Hide UNDER the hat...or hide the hat itself.  A girl has her pride. I refuse to show off like my haughty sis-fur Peaches.

Have fun, everyone with Dress Up Your Pet Day. The idea is to be stylish and have a good time, but never force it! Comfort is all! If your kitty doesn't like your heart's desire costume, you will have to celebrate in other ways!  there are always "virtual costumes" now that we have our computers!  Will your cat be dressing up today, virtually or for real?

PS: This hat was made by the famous "grammy, " mom of my friend Ellen of the the blog, 15 and Meowing.  Mroww!

Faux Fur Friday

Good morning, Peaches here! Faux Fur Friday, celebrated the first Friday of December, is an irresistible holiday to celebrate for cats and humans! Faux fur clothing first got started in 1929 and in the 1970's was at its heyday.

Both I (above) and Paprika (below) are firm believers in this holiday.

First of all, humans can wear it & look pretty instead of REAL fur from animals, as was so popular in years past.

The real benefit of course is to us cats.  Just check out how happy Paprika and I are on this zebra fleece fur.  Our human buys them on sale at Joanne's Fabrics just to give us a thrill!

Speaking of thrills, you can see how I am enjoying this leopard print which is one of the Faux Fur fleece throws on which to luxuriate.

As you can see I could not resist a little "frolic" on same!
Lest you think we are completely nutty cats, we now present "Exhibit A" - featuring our human Carol.  Humans are far from immune to Faux Furs. As you can see, Carol is wearing a tiger sweater & TRYING to look like US!

We don't really think she succeeded but applaud her efforts.

Whenever possible we seek out articles of clothing to "hang out on" and protect. Here, for example, is Carol's "Tiger Hat" which makes a great foot warmer or pillow for myself or Paprika (below)

Paprika and Tiger Hat Pillow

I personally like to watch over this particular tiger hat and "protect" it so it will not fall into the wrong Paws."

When my human wears this hat out and about, I am always quick to pounce on it and "secure" it upon her return.

We hope you have enjoyed our Faux Fur celebration and that you always use FAUX fur in your sewing and gadabout activities!

Love, Peaches and sis-fur Paprika

Kiss & Make Up Day - for Cats!

We are so glad this cool "National Kiss & Make Up holiday exists so we can easily smooth over the "ruffled furs" from our various, er, "scuffles." We really do love each other! Well most of the time. Also we feel this should be a holiday for cats, not only humans. Don't you agree?

One more of our favorite pix for the road!

Today's pictures  originally appeared on Peaches and Paprika on  Agust 25, 2017, and we edited our post since then!

National Red Rose Day

Our human has always been a rose fan, so I volunteered ASAP to celebrate this day.  I am PUrRR, er THUR-illed to combine Red Rose Day with Tummy Tuesday.  By the way you can read all about this day HERE!  It was made for a cat like me. Check out the rose between my fangs!   Love, Peaches the Cat

Not so fast!  My sis-fur who thinks she is a famous celebrity is at it again, trying to steal the spotlight.    I am much more  deserving of it, because I have been photographed on my human's special  "Rose Blanket!" And check out my modestly yet artistically curled tail!  Try and match THAT, Peaches!
-- your good looking sisfur, Paprika

And just fur good measure, how 'bout some more real roses???

The last photo is the rose garden of my human's childhood in Oklahoma where she human grew up and helped her mom garden!  Of course we were not born yet!

Happy Hug-Your-Cat Day

It's National HUG YOUR CAT DAY!  This is a LOoooove Day  as you can see!  My human loves my snuggling up to her but complains I take up all the room.

I think it's wrong to focus about taking up "too much room" when so much loving' is going on!  She should only think about ME, don't you agree? -- Peaches the cat

From Peaches' sisfur, Paprika:
Carol & Paprika

I am just as lovable as peaches but being camera shy, I am sometimes shortchanged on the "photo-ops." However my human DID sneak in this selfie while I was sleeping, then gave me a pretty Imikimi frame. - signed, Paprika the cat, Chief "Huggee"

Tell A Lie Day!

We begged our human to let us celebrate this day so we could spoof one another. Reluctantly she agreed. There really IS a Tell A Lie Day which closely follows April Fool's Day.  Read all about it Tell-A-Lie day!  What would YOUR cats lie about if they could?

Quirky Country Music Song Titles Day‪

Hello everyone, Paprika here! There is a fun holiday today called "Quirky Country Music Song Titles Day.  Although our human lives in Connecticut She's from Oklahoma and couldn't resist celebrating the day.  We got to sing some of our favorite "country" songs!

But of course I started singing ONLY to be corrected by my sisfur, Peaches who thinks she's "all that"

Peaches puts in her two cents worth!

Peaches couldn't resist rubbing a little salt into my wounds.

This interchange made me sad and blue, remembering loves lost. But then I remembered my favorite song, "Heartaches by the Number!"

I did lay it on a little thick, remembering another country song I liked:

By now Peaches had about all she could take.

She decided the only way I'd get rid of my blues was to sing a duet with me!  I have to admit, this was a Happy Ending!
